Prompt Genie shipped on a Friday and called 30 days five figures, not MRR
Kushank Aggarwal says a Carrd-and-PickAxe ChatGPT prompt generator went from idea to first paid user in four days and to five-figure revenue in 30 days via organic TikTok and Instagram, then slowed with wrapper-like churn.

The story
On 24 October 2023, Kushank Aggarwal posted on Indie Hackers that with no-code and TikTok he had gone from idea to first customer in just four days. He also generated five figures in revenue in the first 30 days. He was not here to flaunt any revenue numbers, he wrote. He would not type a dollar amount. Catalog keywords that stamp $10K MRR onto Prompt Genie are not in this post. Five figures in 30 days is cumulative revenue in his language, not a monthly recurring run rate.
Background: he had been a product manager and had created content in tech and AI for three years. His brother was a business partner and they had one employee. The idea was a ChatGPT prompt generator. The team spent a few hours on prompt engineering and liked the first model. It took roughly one day to put the product together with no-code. His brother's girlfriend designed a logo in Canva. Front end was Carrd. PickAxe for the backend. MemberSpace for subscriptions. Tella for the first demo video. Vendors are not revenue proof.
Pricing was a trial for a couple of days and then $3.99. A credit card was required to sign up. That was to get a real signal of interest. They finalized everything around 7 p.m. in his brother's bedroom on a Friday, debated waiting until Monday, and launched the ugliest-looking product they had ever built that night. If there was signal, they would leave Carrd the next week. They created a new TikTok account, posted a few videos, and he posted the app on his Instagram story.
The Instagram story had a couple of thousand views. The new TikTok account videos got a few thousand views as well. A few thousand views turned into near a hundred website visitors, which turned into 10 to 15 sign-ups over the weekend. Those funnels are his counts. They are not first paid user, which he dated as four days from idea. He does not split free trial from paid in the weekend 10 to 15.
After the initial signal they migrated from no-code to a low-code model for robustness. They kept posting the same TikToks over and over. The account somehow got 2k-plus followers, with one video going mega viral. Product demos, and people still followed. They grew to five-figure revenue in the first 30 days. He also posted it on his personal account, tons of followers, which he said definitely helped crack five figures. Highlight reel, then reality: growth slowed after the initial hype. Higher churn, similar to most AI tools or GPT wrappers. Lots to learn. Happy they could ship fast and market on social.
He named the product prompt-genie.com in the post, not the catalog's promptgenie.app. TikTok, he told a commenter, does not allow a site URL in the way people want. It does not matter. Users search for the website. Direct search was a good proxy for attribution. All marketing was organic TikTok and Instagram: the app account plus his own channel. Once a video went viral, other creators talked about it. He was exploring influencers in a later comment thread; that is not the 30-day engine he described for the launch. When asked whether to delete old copies of the same video, he said to keep posting it. He would not always paste the TikTok URL in comments; he told people to go to the website and sometimes shot demos in second or third person.
The four-day clock was easier, he wrote, because he had three years growing TikTok accounts, including Zapier's. He pointed readers at a newsletter, startup-tiktalk.beehiiv.com, and at Twitter @ImKushanK. He gave the TikTok handle writebetterprompts when asked. He did not want people to treat a new TikTok account as a magic channel if they lacked that history. On testing ideas without a product, he said different hooks and hashtags let you play with value proposition and audience, with engagement as a proxy. For service businesses he recommended trending audio and ten-second process clips. The lesson he repeated: just ship fast; if there is value, people will tell you.
On quantifying traction without a full product, he said website visits show the problem is big enough to drive traffic, while sign-ups and conversions are quality of solution and site. You can think video-first: the hook is a value prop; make a bunch of videos and see what resonates. Without building a product, you can use TikTok to validate the problem and who you are solving for, his claim. That validation advice is not the 10 to 15 weekend sign-ups.
He should probably do a Product Hunt launch soon, he wrote, and had not in this post. Catalog five figures in 30 days using no-code plus TikTok is fair if it stays revenue. It becomes false if it is rewritten as $10K MRR or as a technical founder story. He called himself previously a PM, shipped Carrd, and later moved to low-code. Keep $3.99 after trial as list price, not as ARPU. He also warned that the weekend 10 to 15 sign-ups are not the same metric as paid conversions after the card-required trial, and that personal-account distribution is a separate lever from the brand-new TikTok handle.
The editorial sequence is idea, one-day no-code, Friday-night ugly launch, thousands of views, ~100 visitors, 10 to 15 weekend sign-ups, first paid user inside four days, five-figure revenue inside 30 days, then slower growth and wrapper-like churn. Do not fill in the missing dollar amount. Do not promote the catalog MRR stamp. Independently verified remains false on every figure he did give.
