About the startup
ReelRank is an ad-free movie community built for people who want more than a score and a poster. It brings reviews, lists, discussion, logging, discovery, and profile-based activity into one place, giving movie lovers a clearer and more connected way to track what they watch and share what they think. Users can write full movie reviews with titles, recommendations, scores, optional category breakdowns, and even YouTube embeds. Each movie page also keeps Reel Reviews from users separate from Pro Critics from publications, so the full picture stays visible instead of being flattened into one vague number. ReelRank then combines those results into an overall score with a clear letter grade, making it easier to see where a movie stands at a glance. Beyond reviews, ReelRank is built to support how movie fans actually engage with film over time. Users can log movies from anywhere on the site, add notes, share watches to the activity feed, and build a browsable viewing history organized by date. They can also create custom movie lists called reels, order them however they want, choose from card, table, or slideshow views, and add more personality through their own reviews when available. Every movie on ReelRank has its own dedicated page that acts as a central hub. It brings together metadata, scores, favorites, reviews, discussion, and reel actions in one place. Each movie also has a dedicated discussion page where users can start topics and reply to each other, giving every film a focused space for conversation instead of leaving discussion scattered across the site. ReelRank also extends beyond individual movie pages into a broader community experience. User profiles bring together favorites, awards, reviews, discussions, reels, and stats into a shareable identity that reflects each person’s taste and activity. Notifications help users stay connected to replies, followers, and new reviews from people or publisher accounts they follow, while the Activity page and Community Hub surface what the community is watching, reviewing, discussing, and building across the site. For collectors and longtime movie fans, ReelRank includes movie collections that combine copy-specific details with table and virtual shelf views. Users can also earn badges for different kinds of contributions and give awards to the movies they believe deserve recognition, adding more ways to express taste and participation. ReelRank Watch expands the experience even further by letting users browse hundreds of legally streamed films through YouTube in a cleaner, movie-first discovery environment. Altogether, ReelRank is designed as a full movie destination: a place to review, log, rank, collect, discuss, discover, and follow film through both personal taste and shared conversation.
