Focana

Focana is a floating desktop focus tool that stays visible above every window on your screen. It's an anchor, not a blocker. Distraction blockers lock you out of apps you need and messages you may need to see. Browser extensions disappear the moment you switch tabs or leave your browser. Focana does neither. It keeps your current task and a timer always on top, so when you inevitably switch to Slack, email, or ChatGPT, your intention stays visible. Out of sight, out of mind doesn't apply here. What it does: Always-on-top floating window — visible above every app, every tab, always Flexible timer — Pomodoro, freeflow, or custom timeboxing Focus check-ins — gentle nudges that ask "Still focused?" so you don't have to self-monitor Parking Lot — capture stray thoughts mid-session without derailing your focus Session notes — leave yourself context so you can pick up where you left off Celebratory completion — "You focused for 25 minutes!" not "Session incomplete" What it doesn't do: No accounts, no sync, no cloud No browser dependency, it runs natively on your desktop No app blocking, no website restrictions No cognitive overhead, no complex setup - just type a task, start a timer, focus Focana was designed specifically for ADHD brains. It layers 7 science-backed ADHD coping mechanisms: body doubling, externalized working memory, thought offloading, self-monitoring, time anchoring, context continuity, and dopamine-positive design, into one calm, lightweight tool. Built by a founder with ADHD who got tired of hacking together five different tools just to stay focused, so he built the focus system that didn't exist.
