About the startup
Zutor is a CRM built specifically for independent private tutors: language teachers, music instructors, academic coaches, and test prep specialists who manage their own book of students. Most tutor software on the market (TutorCruncher, Teachworks, TutorBird) is designed for tutoring agencies, not solo operators. It's priced at $50 to $80 per month and packed with staff management, multi-location settings, and permission layers a one-person practice will never use. Tutors working alone end up defaulting to Excel sheets, paper notebooks, and Google Calendar. Fragmented and painful. Zutor replaces that stack with three tightly integrated tools: Students: contact info, parents, subject, level, color labels, custom statuses Lesson calendar: month/week views, recurring lessons up to 12 weeks, public booking page with availability slots Payments: balance per student, PDF invoices, multi-currency, CSV export, auto report cards for parents Plus: Email and Telegram reminders (24h before lesson, daily summary), analytics dashboards (revenue, heatmap, top students, debtors), PWA mobile support, Google OAuth, and a referral program. Currently in early access. All features free until Sep 1, 2026. No credit card, no trial timer. Built with Ruby on Rails 8, Vue 3, and Tailwind CSS. Target user: one tutor managing 5 to 50 students who wants a tool that fits their scale, not their agency's org chart.
