About the startup
Coil is a rules-based trading engine that runs inside your own AI agent and trades your own brokerage account by rule. It is not a signal group, not a managed account, and not a black box. You buy the software, you run it locally, and you own every outcome. HOW IT WORKS Every market morning, Coil scores roughly 560 names across the S&P 500, Nasdaq-100, and a Macro book on three axes: opportunity (is this a genuine market leader at a real pullback?), entry timing, and hold strength. Every score is hash-committed and published before the market can judge it, so the record cannot be edited after the fact. Your agent then runs the loop by rule on your brokerage: conviction-ranked entries, structural stops, ladder exits, and cash when conditions are thin. The language model never makes the trading decision — it orchestrates, the rules decide. That boundary is the entire architecture, and it is why the behavior is reproducible instead of vibes-based. WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT Most trading software asks you to trust either its rules or its results. Coil publishes both. Scores are hash-committed before outcomes are known. Verify any past day at coil.trade/api/board/proof. A live forward-return audit runs continuously and ships regardless of what it says. As of 10 Aug 2026 it reads 0.24 percentage points behind its own sector-matched control over 5 sessions across 16 committed days — a sample far too small to prove edge, and published anyway. Check it yourself at coil.trade/api/board/signal-audit. The research backtest harness ships in the download, and the point-in-time S&P 500 membership data is open-sourced free, so you can test without survivorship bias — the error that quietly flatters most strategies you read about. The rules are yours to read. No obfuscation, no encrypted config. SAFETY ARCHITECTURE Live trading ships OFF. Nothing executes until you deliberately arm it. Runs locally with your own API keys. Coil never takes deposits, never holds funds, and never sees your broker credentials. Paper Mode is a first-class profile: the engine plans and prints every cycle and places nothing, with a separate paper scoreboard. Watch it think before you arm it. An immutable safety core, a drawdown breaker, and a validation harness with 100+ self-test assertions sit under every configuration. The safety rails are not user-configurable by design. LONG-ONLY, ON PURPOSE Coil trades long only. A short sleeve was built, tested across two independent samples, failed both, and was retired rather than shipped. Retiring things that do not work is part of the product. WHAT YOU GET Coil Trading Bot — $49 one-time. The full local system: scanner, command dashboard, engine, safety spine, and backtest harness. Yours forever, runs offline, no subscription. Coil Scanner Board — $12/month or $99/year. The hosted scored board in your browser each market morning, if you want the read without running anything. Free tier — the top 3 names per book, plus a free MCP server and free API keys with no card required. AGENT-NATIVE Coil is built for the way software is increasingly discovered and used. It ships a free MCP server for market reads, real OAuth 2.0 for machine callers, and x402 payment rails so an agent with a funded wallet can buy a board read autonomously. WHAT IT IS NOT Coil is software you install and operate yourself. It is not investment advice, not a managed account, and it makes no return promises. Markets can lose money. Leveraged ETFs, which the engine uses at reduced size, can lose value rapidly including total loss. Past performance does not predict future results.
