About the startup
selfies.lol is a live selfie network built on one rule: don't follow people, follow the world. Instead of a feed shaped by who you already know, you see real people in real places right now - a street in Seoul, a kitchen in Lagos, a bus stop two blocks away - and they see you. Take a selfie, post it from where you are, and it lands on a rotating 3D globe and in the live feed. Anyone can react with a heart, a laugh, a fire or a pair of eyes, and those reactions add up to your LOL Score, the single number that ranks selfies across your city, your country and the world. Browse by Live, Nearby, Mood, Time or Stars, and switch the feed between Just Now, Trending and Surprise Me. A daily challenge and My Day on Earth give you a reason to come back tomorrow. Posting, browsing and reacting are free and always will be. Rank is earned, never bought: money can buy extra impressions through Boost, or a marked SPONSORED slot in a city, country or world Spotlight, but it can never buy reactions or a place on a leaderboard. There is no follower count to grow first, so a first-time poster and a big account start the same day on the same globe. selfies.lol runs in the browser as an installable progressive web app, with Google or email sign-in, photo moderation, reporting and blocking built in, and no follower graph, no DMs and no comments to manage.
