About the startup
We save ideas in Notion, organize projects in Craft, and build second brains in Obsidian. Over time, these tools become full of things we once thought were important: recipes, reading notes, unfinished ideas, project plans, and reminders for later. The problem is that “later” rarely comes. Most of that information stays buried inside the same screens that are also filled with messages, notifications, social feeds, and dozens of open tabs. To find one useful note, you first have to enter an environment designed to distract you. We started building inklet because we wondered whether useful information could exist differently. When you’re cooking, perhaps the recipe should already be sitting in the kitchen. When you sit down to work, your focus list could be waiting on your desk. A family schedule might make more sense near the door than inside an app no one remembers to open. inklet is a system of connected e-ink displays designed around that idea. It takes information you have already saved and brings it into the physical place where it is most useful. It is not meant to be another tablet. There is no glowing screen, notification feed, camera, microphone, or speaker. It does not ask you to keep checking it. It simply stays in the background, quietly keeping the right information in sight. You can share a screenshot, PDF, task, note, or recipe with inklet, and the system prepares it for the display. Over time, inklet will also connect directly with tools such as Notion, Craft, and Obsidian, so you do not have to maintain yet another inbox or recreate your existing workflow. The information can then be sent to the display that makes the most sense. A recipe can appear in the kitchen, while a project note stays on your desk. You can choose where things go yourself, or let inklet help organize them based on their context. Privacy has also been important to us from the beginning. For users who prefer to keep their notes and processing inside their own home, the inklet Pro Bundle includes a dedicated Compute Hub. It can handle content processing and routing locally on the home network, without requiring personal information to be sent to the cloud. We also want inklet to grow beyond the devices we build ourselves. A developer SDK is on our roadmap so people can create custom integrations, local automations, and eventually connect compatible third-party e-ink devices. The display itself uses a 7.5-inch, 800 × 480 e-paper panel. Because e-ink only consumes significant power when the image changes, inklet can last for months on a charge under normal use. It connects through low-power Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, and can sit on a desk with its wooden stand or attach to a fridge and other surfaces using its magnetic back. We are building inklet around a simple belief: not every piece of technology needs to compete for your attention. Some of it should quietly help, then disappear into the room. We’re now live on Kickstarter and continuing to refine the hardware and software. Support inklet on Kickstarter: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/clckkkkk/inklet
