About the startup
Cogitae is an AI workspace built in Swift just for macOS. It isn't a web app in a wrapper. It puts chat, your files, tools and automation in one fast window that fits how your Mac already works. Every model, one place. You bring your own keys for OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, xAI, Mistral, DeepSeek and OpenRouter, or run models locally with llama.cpp and MLX. You can switch models partway through a conversation, compare answers, and see what each query costs. Conversations that branch. Conversations are trees, so you can fork from any message and try another approach without losing the first one. Code, tables, charts, LaTeX and Mermaid diagrams all render natively. Tools that actually do things. Over 70 built-in and plugin tools work with files, the web, databases (SQLite and Postgres), SSH, AppleScript, image generation, calendar and reminders. You can also add any MCP server. Risky actions ask you to confirm first. Agents that run while you work. Agents can be set to react to file changes, the clipboard, calendar events, network changes or a schedule. They run on their own, follow the model and budget limits you set, and either notify you or ask you before they act. Memory that persists. Semantic memory carries what you've told Cogitae, and what it has learned, from one conversation to the next. At home on your Mac. It has a floating window you can dock, a hotkey launcher, Finder integration, and Shortcuts and Siri actions. A built-in MCP server lets other AI tools use Cogitae too, and an iOS companion app gives you remote access with end-to-end encryption. It's a one-time purchase with no subscription, and there's a free 14-day trial. It needs macOS 14.6 or later.
