About the startup
AI can answer almost anything, but it doesn't know what's inside the documents on your device. LocalRAG bridges that gap — import your PDFs, contracts, research papers, and more, then ask questions and get AI-powered answers with source citations. How it works: Import a document in any of 9 supported formats (PDF, EPUB, DOCX, HTML, RTF, TXT, MD, CSV). LocalRAG extracts text, splits it into chunks, and builds a search index — all on your device. When you ask a question, only the most relevant excerpts are sent to Claude AI, and you get answers with source citations. Key features: - 9 document formats with on-device processing - 3-stage PDF extraction (text, copy-protection bypass, OCR for scanned pages) - Hybrid search: TF-IDF + bigram matching + page-number queries - Source citations with page numbers - Document collections for organized conversations - 8 languages supported - Free tier, subscriptions, or bring your own API key
